Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics has called on the International Atomic Energy Agency to intervene immediately because of the situation with power outages at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

According to Ukrinform, Rinkevics said this on his Twitter account.

"Most disturbing news from Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant about power outages. Russia must take all measures to ensure safety of the facility and allow repair teams to work. I call on the IAEA to interfere in this situation immediately," Rinkevics wrote.

Earlier today, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called on the international community to demand that Russia cease fire and allow repair crews to restore power supply at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

Earlier reports said that the Chornobyl NPP was left without electricity due to the actions of Russian invaders. Due to the ongoing fighting, it is impossible to carry out repairs and restore power supply.
