The Russian invasion forces have already caused billions of dollars in damage to Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv.

City Mayor Vitaliy Klychko addressed the issue at the national telethon on March 17, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We see how destroyed the infrastructure is, we see that the economy isn’t working, we see how many people have fled their homes and now moved to other regions. There are no clear figures, but it's all billions of dollars in damage. Normal operations, normal life of our people, normal life of our capital has stopped as such. This is due solely to the aggression of orcs who are trying to capture the capital,” said Klitschko.

The mayor also called on Kyiv residents not to leave their homes and shelters without an urgent need. "We hear sirens urging people to get down to bomb shelters to stay safe. But, unfortunately, civilians fall victim to missile attacks every day. A few days ago, missiles hit Obolonsky, Podilsky, Shevchenkivsky, and Darnytsky districts. And we see that the number of civilians dying in these attacks keeps growing," Klitschko said.

Also, according to the mayor, the curfew in Kyiv has paid off. "Currently, there are forces working in the city to locate sabotage groups. They can be out there. And I appeal to everyone to remain vigilant, if you have any information, see suspicious people, contact the police," he said.

As reported earlier, the situation was tense in Kyiv overnight Thursday. As a result of a missile strike, two high-rise apartment blocks were damaged in the Darnytskyi district.
