Ukraine’s army destroys units of Russian marines prepared to storm Odesa
"The marines, who were to land on the coast of Odesa, were destroyed and are rotting now near Mykolayiv and Mariupol. The remnants [of those units] will feed the Black Sea gobies. And this will be the fate of every invader," Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesperson for the operational headquarters of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, posted on Facebook.
On March 21, two Russian ships shelled the coast of Odesa, damaging several private households and a high-rise building. No casualties were reported. Ukraine’s Armed Forces returned fire and drove them away from the shore.
On February 24, Russian president Vladimir Putin started the invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops shell and destroy key infrastructure facilities, massively fire on residential areas of Ukrainian cities, towns, and villages using artillery, multiple-launch rocket systems, and ballistic missiles.
Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
