Russian troops kick up clouds of radioactive dust near Chornobyl NPP

Russian forces who seized the Chornobyl nuclear power plant drove their armored vehicles without radiation protection through a highly toxic zone called the "Red Forest," kicking up clouds of radioactive dust.
Workers at the plant told this to Reuters, Ukrinform reports.
According to them, they witnessed Russian tanks and other armored vehicles moving through the Red Forest, which is the most radioactively contaminated part of the zone around Chornobyl, around 100 km north of Kyiv.
At the same time, the two sources said soldiers in the convoy did not use any anti-radiation gear.
According to Chornobyl plant employees, that was "suicidal" for the soldiers because the radioactive dust they inhaled was likely to cause internal radiation in their bodies.
The Chornobyl nuclear power plant was captured by Russian troops on the first day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine - February 24.
