In Luhansk region, 20 apartment blocks destroyed in Russian shelling, forest fire breaks out near Sievierodonetsk
That’s according to the press service of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Ukrinform reports.
"About 20 apartment blocks were destroyed by shelling ... Civilians are dying, again, there are wounded, dozens of lives were saved but many apartments were destroyed. Each destroyed building means 30, 50, 100 homeless families," the statement said.
It is noted that over the past night, the enemy took another life by shelling Nyzhnie with MLR systems. Rescuers rescued 20 inhabitants of Sievierodonetsk from under the rubble of several buildings.
Also throughout the day, as a result of shelling, houses in Lysychansk, Novotoshkivske, and Shchedryshcheve were set on fire.
Another fire broke out this morning on the territory of one of the forestries near Sievierodonetsk.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in Severodonetsk enemy shelling caused a fire in a residential building where two floors were destroyed.
“Sievierodonetsk. In shelling, a fire broke out in one of the apartments on the 4th floor of a five-storey building; the 4th and 5th floors of the building were destroyed. Four persons were rescued from under the rubble,” the report reads.
As it is noted, having arrived on a scene, firefghters rescued a total of nine civilians. Another two residents were killed in the attack. Their bodies have been retrieved. Law enforcers established that the fire was caused by a projectile hitting a residential building.
As for the town of Lysychansk, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, apartments and garages caught fire as a result of the strike. Data on casualties is being verified.
At the same time, the administration reported that the Ukrainian military had repulsed seven enemy attacks, destroyed 12 main battle tanks, 10 infantry fighting vehicles, and 3 motor vehicles.
On February 24, on the instructions of Russian President Putin, Russian troops began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian forces have been shelling and bombing key infrastructure and residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages, using artillery, rockets, and missiles.
Martial law was imposed and general mobilization was announced in Ukraine.
