Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi, who is in Ukraine for the second day, has arrived at the South Ukraine nuclear power plant (NPP).

Ukraine’s National Nuclear Energy Generating Company “Energoatom” informed this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"The agenda includes the issues of nuclear and radiation safety at the Zaporizhzhia and Chornobyl nuclear power plants seized by Russian troops," the report says.

IAEA Director General Grossi wrote on his Twitter account: “IAEA’s on-site presence will help prevent the danger of a nuclear accident that could have severe public health and environmental consequences in Ukraine and beyond”.

He added that IAEA would provide technical assistance to ensure safety and security of Ukraine’s nuclear facilities.
