Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said that after the energy crisis in the world, Russia wants to cause a global food crisis.

He said this during a nationwide telethon on Ukrainian TV channels, Ukrinform reports.

“Russia's intentions are obvious: following the energy crisis caused by Russia at the end of last year and at the beginning of this year in Europe and the world in general, their task now is to cause a global food crisis. They are already doing this. Today, they are destroying part of the granaries in Ukraine. Today they are preventing exports of grain from Ukrainian ports due to the sea blockade," Shmyhal said.

However, according to him, together with its partners, Ukraine is searching "options for how Ukraine will act and is already acting in terms of ensuring the export of our grain, our products."

Shmyhal also expressed the belief that "most of the civilized world will not cooperate with the aggressor," in particular because of the sanctions imposed.

"But we will see how the world will react to these aggressive actions of Russia - causing a major global food crisis," the prime minister said.

The war with Russian invaders has been going on in Ukraine since February 24.
