Mariupol bombarded by Russian invaders 118 times over past day – Denisova
The relevant statement was made by Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The enemy has bombarded Mariupol 118 times over the past day alone,” Denisova noted.
In the city of Rubizhne, Donetsk Region, five civilians were wounded and one person was killed.
“Yesterday, 11 houses were destroyed in Russia’s shelling of residential areas in Rubizhne, Lysychansk, Popasna, Sievierodonetsk and Toshkivka. In general, rashist troops have shelled Luhansk Region 81 times over the past day,” Denisova told.
In her words, the enemy is chaotically firing on civil infrastructure facilities and residential houses in Kharkiv Region. Over the past day, these areas have come under fire 27 times.
Denisova stressed that shelling peaceful cities and civil infrastructure facilities is a war crime, crime against humanity and a gross violation of the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and additional protocols to them.
Denisova appealed to the UN Commission for Investigation into Human Rights Violations during Russia’s Military Invasion of Ukraine and the expert mission set up by the OSCE participating States under the Moscow Mechanism to take into account these war crimes and crimes against humanity and human rights in Ukraine, which are committed by Russian troops.
“I am calling on international partners to close the sky over Ukraine and provide weapons to fight against the aggressor state of Russia,” Denisova stressed.
A reminder that, on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, starting a war. Russian troops are shelling and destroying the key infrastructure facilities, launching missile and air strikes on residential areas in Ukrainian cities and villages, torturing and murdering civilians.
