Vereshchuk: Invaders thwart all attempts to get to Mariupol
“Every day we try to break into the city of Mariupol, but the occupying forces and their leadership in Russia block all our attempts and the efforts made by international organizations. The delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross had all the necessary approvals from Russia and Ukraine to travel to Mariupol and evacuate people. However, they were not just denied entry, but also arrested by the so-called ‘DPR’ group and held behind bars for almost a day,” Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
She added that the authorities would continue to try to get to Mariupol.
Vereshchuk noted that the work was also underway to organize humanitarian corridors to other blocked communities in order to deliver humanitarian aid and evacuate people.
As reported, 11 humanitarian corridors were scheduled for April 6 and 4,892 people evacuated.
