Russian troops already damage more than 1,600 high-rise buildings in Kharkiv
"The aggressor continues to bomb residential neighborhoods of Kharkiv. A total of 1,617 high-rise apartment buildings have been destroyed since the beginning of the war," Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said in an interview with CNN, the press service of the Kharkiv City Council informs.
According to him, the shelling continued on Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday evening, the enemy fired cruise missiles. People are suffering as there are killed and injured, the infrastructure of Kharkiv is being destroyed, the mayor added.
As Terekhov stressed, the Ukrainian military is defending the city. Thanks to their heroic efforts and the help of Western partners, including the United Kingdom, which supply weapons, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have the ability to fight effectively.
According to the mayor, despite the war, many people do not want to leave their hometown although they have the opportunity to evacuate.
Terekhov also said that Ukraine needed weapons, political support, and humanitarian aid from its allies. The city receives products, medicines, and basic necessities but they are constantly given out to people.
As reported, on April 11, time bombs dropped by Russcists were spotted in several districts of Kharkiv.
Earlier, Russia began dropping parachute bombs on Kharkiv.
On February 24, Russian president Putin declared war on Ukraine and launched a large-scale invasion.
