Forced mobilization plan thwarted in occupied areas of Donetsk, Luhansk regions
"Military-age males (18-65 years old) avoid conscription in every possible way as they do not want to become cannon fodder in the occupier's army. According to preliminary plans, 17 infantry regiments of the combined arms armies of Russia’s Southern and Western Military Districts were to be staffed by the mobilized men. However, this task has not been fulfilled," Ukraine’s Defense Ministry Spokesperson Oleksandr Motuzianyk said at a briefing, Ukrinform reports.
The personnel, who were recruited, are not trained. They are equipped with unfit ammunition and weapons.
According to Motuzianyk, the Russian army representatives, who conduct recruitment campaign, promise to involve "recruits" in ensuring control over the occupied territories, protecting roads and military facilities, improving defense positions.
“However, as practice shows, the mobilized men from certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions form the closest reserve to replenish the losses of units directly involved in hostilities against Ukraine. They as the least valuable ‘resource’ are also used for offensive reconnaissance to identify the positions of Ukrainian defenders," Ukraine’s Defense Ministry Spokesperson said.
