Commander of Azov Regiment urges world leaders to organize humanitarian corridor from Azovstal
According to Ukrinform, he said this in his address published by the Azov Regiment on Telegram.
"Right now there are hundreds of civilians at the Azovstal plant. Among them are many children of different ages, women, the elderly and families of Mariupol's defenders who are hiding from the 'Russian world' in basements and bomb shelters," Prokopenko said.
He noted that civilians have found the only possible shelter along with Ukrainian forces who continue to defend Mariupol, while Russian invaders and their collaborators from "LPR/DPR" are shelling the city using missiles and artillery. Prokopenko noted that the enemy knows about the presence of civilians in the shelters.
He also mentioned the destruction of the drama theater, maternity hospital, schools, hospitals and kindergartens in Mariupol by those who offer them "security" and "evacuation," emphasizing that no one believes Russian invaders.
"That is why I call on politicians from all over the civilized world to organize a green corridor and provide security guarantees so as to immediately evacuate civilians, the wounded and the bodies of killed soldiers who should be buried with honors," he said.
His address was also accompanied by a video of women and children telling from a bomb shelter about their stay there.
The Russian aggressor continues to shell and bomb the Azovstal steel plant using all weapons, including heavy bombs.
