Bucha massacre: More than 420 bodies already found
"The Kyiv region police continue to work. As of Saturday evening, more than 420 bodies were found in Bucha only. And this process continues, people return and find temporary graves in their homes and storage of corpses in basements, wells, and so on," said Kyiv region police chief Andriy Nebytov, the press service of the Kyiv region police posted on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
Speaking about the process of identification of persons, he noted that the identities of most of those citizens were established.
"And a lot of people, more than 200 [in Kyiv region] are those who have gone missing, according to the statements we have now. We understand that these are not all statements because people, for example, have left and file reports all over Ukraine, including from abroad. Also, many people, more than 300 bodies, have not been identified yet [in Kyiv region]," he added.
The procedure for identifying bodies is carried out in accordance with procedural law, Nebytov noted
"We always take DNA samples. Many relatives report the disappearance of their acquaintances or relatives, but they are abroad, so it is not yet possible to take DNA samples from them. But we hope that we will identify 100% of all people who were killed by the Russian army in Kyiv region," Nebytov stressed.
