Zelensky presents soldiers with new military award

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has presented Ukrainian service members with a new award -- the Cross of Combat Merit -- and assured them that the feats of the defenders are inspiring and do not go unnoticed.
The head of state wrote this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"Our heroes show outstanding courage and bravery in defending their homeland. Their exploits during combat missions are inspiring and do not go unnoticed. With great gratitude, I presented the Ukrainian soldiers with a new award 'The Cross of Combat Merit.' Thank you for your service! We will win!" he said.
As of May 5, more than 11,600 Ukrainian defenders received state awards since the Russian invasion of Ukraine started on February 24.
