Russian troops are looting enterprises, which are situated in the temporarily seized city of Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia Region.

The relevant statement was made by Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov during a nationwide news telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The day before yesterday, they got their hands to the only Mariupol-based state-owned enterprise, Hydromash. Sadly, the plant has been standing idle for many years, but we have preserved the material and technical base – all engineering tools and pressure machines, – and production operations could have been resumed. But, Russian occupiers began to loot and take everything away,” Fedorov told.

In his words, the situation is about the same at Melitopol Motor and Tractor Spare Parts Factory, which has been seized by Russian troops since the early days of the Russian invasion.

“There, they have taken all furniture items away. But, the factory was notable for cooperation with Ukraine’s defense industry. Now, they are attempting to make this enterprise work for Russia’s defense complex,” Fedorov noted.

According to Fedorov, Russian troops have been abducting civilians in Melitopol since early March 2022. The streets are nearly empty after 04:00 p.m.
