Nearly 2,500 Russian reservists undergoing training in regions bordering Ukraine
That’s according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
As of 18:00 on May 15, the Russians pursue their offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone in order to establish full control over the territory of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kherson regions and maintain the land corridor to the temporarily occupied Crimea.
There is no significant enemy action observed in Volyn and Polissia areas. No signs of the offensive groups being formed are seen at the moment. Belarus forces continue to fulfill their tasks to protect the section of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border.
In the Siversky direction, the Russians are intensifying efforts to protect the Russian- Ukrainian border in Kursk and Belgorod regions. They fired missiles at civilian infrastructure in the settlements of Shipylivka and Shevchenkove, Sumy region.
In the Kharkiv direction, the Russians focused their main efforts on holding the occupied positions and preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops to the State Border. In this direction, the Russians employ units that were formed by mobilizing residents of the temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
In addition, Russian occupiers systematically shelled the settlements of Ruski Tyshky, Ternova, and Petrivka. Their offensive and assault operations in the areas of Dovhenke and Bogorodychne have seen no success.
In the Donetsk direction, the Russians carry out intense shelling along the line of contact and try to gain a foothold in the occupied positions, replenishing stocks of ammunition and fuel. The enemy’s main efforts continued to focus on the Lyman, Sievierodonetsk, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka, and Kurakhiv areas.
Russian occupiers suffered significant losses in manpower and equipment. In some areas, the staffing of units is down to just 20 percent. In the Popasna direction, due to heavy losses and inability to act independently, units of Russia’s airborne troops are teaming up with Russian mercenaries to further operate as part of combined units.
In the Sievierodonetsk direction, the Russians, with the support of artillery, engaged Ukrainian forces in the area of Toshkivka. Near Borivskyi, Russian occupiers suffered losses and retreated.
Firefights continue in the Bakhmut direction in the Komyshuvakha area.
The Russians fought in the Avdiyivka direction and suffered losses in the area of Pisky and Novokalynove. In some areas, they employed heavy flamethrower systems.
They also ran assault and offensive operations in the Kurakhiv direction, using artillery support, but seeing no success.
In Mariupol, the Russians continue to focus their efforts on blocking and defeating Ukrainian units in the area of the Azovstal plant, inflicting massive artillery and airstrikes on the site.
In the Novopavlovsk and Zaporizhia directions, the Russians tried to engage Ukrainian forces with multiple rocket launchers, artillery, and mortars. There were attempts at counter-battery fighting.
In the South Buh direction, enemy units launched no active hostilities. In the Kryvyi Rih and Mykolayiv directions, the Russians fired at Ukrainian units, employing artillery and mortars. They also continued equipping the occupied positions.
The command of the armed forces of the Russian federation is trying to recruit and replenish the losses of its troops at the expense of reservists. Some 2,500 of them are being trained in Voronezh, Belgorod, and Rostov regions. They are set to be deployed to the Ukraine war.
