Defense Ministry: Ukraine will fight until it liberates all territories within internationally recognized borders
"Ukraine will fight until it liberates all of its territories within internationally recognized borders. And Putin can save face by getting away from our territories," Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Malyar said during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center–Ukrinform.
The official stressed that Russia's war against Ukraine had begun eight years ago. "On May 26, 2014, the first battle for the Donetsk airport took place. Today, the whole world knows that the Donetsk airport is a symbol of the invincibility of Ukrainian soldiers. Now the defense of Azovstal has joined up. The defenders of the Donetsk airport and the defenders of Mariupol are a vivid illustration of our indomitability and striving for freedom," said the deputy defense minister.
On February 24, Russian president Putin launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops shell and destroy infrastructure, massively fire on residential areas of Ukrainian cities, towns, and villages using artillery, MLRS, and ballistic missiles.
The United States, the European Union, and other countries have imposed sanctions on Russia, making its international isolation grow by the day.
