Five people killed in enemy shelling of Luhansk region over past 24 hours

On May 26, Russian troops tried to break into Sievierodonetsk, Luhansk region. Five people were killed by enemy shells in the region during the day.

"Throughout the day, the Russians tried to break into Sievierodonetsk from Purdivka and Shchedryshchevo, attacked the positions of our military in the area of Ustynivka. On May 26, four Sievierodonetsk residents were killed by enemy shells. The Russians opened fire on a police station. Nobody was injured. Another man was killed by a Russian shell in Komyshuvakha yesterday," Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Serhiy Haidai posted on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

According to him, the residents of Sievierodonetsk have already forgotten when the situation was calm in the town for at least half an hour: the Russians are firing on residential neighborhoods continuously. It also became known about the death of two women in Hirske in the past week.

Many residential buildings throughout the region were destroyed.

Over the past 24 hours, 12 enemy attacks were repulsed in Luhansk region. An enemy tank, five artillery systems, five armored personnel vehicles, and five vehicles were destroyed. The Ukrainian air defense units shot down an enemy Ka-52 helicopter, a cruise missile, and an Orlan-10 UAV.

As reported, Luhansk region is under constant Russian fire. Many residential buildings, infrastructure facilities, educational institutions have been destroyed and hospitals have been damaged. Until recently, about 40,000 civilians stayed in the region refusing to evacuate.
