Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova and Eurojust President Ladislav Hamran have discussed the coordination of actions of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on Russian crimes in Ukraine.

She wrote this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"We discussed with Eurojust President Ladislav Hamran the coordination of our now-largest Joint Investigation Team on Russia's crimes in Ukraine. The most important issue is the exchange of information and evidence and their safe storage," the prosecutor general said.

According to her, it is necessary to develop an effective and modern model of operational interaction so that the expansion of the Joint Investigation Group yields results as soon as possible.

"Representatives of Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Slovakia have compared their strategies in The Hague and are ready for productive work," she said.

Venediktova earlier discussed with European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders the strengthening of expert support for the investigation into Russian atrocities in Ukraine.

The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on the investigation into Russia's war crimes, set up by Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland, has expanded to six countries. An agreement on Estonia, Latvia and Slovakia joining the JIT was signed at a meeting held at Eurojust.
