Ukrainian defenders have destroyed 24 Russian troops, one tank and nine other equipment units in southern Ukraine over the past day.

The relevant statement was made by the South Operational Command on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The rashists’ desperate attempt to restore their lost position near Mykolaivka, Kherson Region, has failed. After that they launched two air strikes on our positions. No casualties. Meanwhile, two civilians were killed in Russia’s massive shelling of Novovorontsovka,” the report states.

On June 2, 2022, Russian troops opened fire on Mykolaiv three times: in the morning – with multiple launch rocket systems, in the afternoon and in the evening – with heavy cannon artillery. Two apartment blocks, four detached houses and household buildings were damaged, as well as a water supply and gas pipelines.

One civilian was killed at the scene, and one more died at hospital. Two more people were injured.

Over the past day, the Ukrainian military have destroyed 24 enemy troops, one Russian T-72 tank, four 152 mm Msta-B howitzers, four armored and motor vehicles in southern Ukraine. The Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense units also shot down Russia’s Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicle.
