Pope Francis has expressed his desire to go to Ukraine but wants to be sure his visit will not do more harm than good.

The relevant statement was made by Pope Francis during his meeting with about 160 school children from across Italy as part of the Children’s Train initiative, an Ukrinform correspondent reports, referring to Vatican News.

A Ukrainian child, who came to Italy as a refugee, asked Pope Francis if he can come to Ukraine and save all the children suffering there now.

“I would like to go to Ukraine. But, I have to wait for the right time to do it, because it is not easy to make a decision that could do more harm to the whole world than good,” Pope Francis replied.

In his words, the representatives of the Ukrainian government will meet him this week to discuss a possible visit to Ukraine.
