Malyar: Russians failing to implement their plan in Sievierodonetsk

Ukrinform
Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Hanna Malyar has stated that Ukrainian troops "offer fierce resistance" to the invaders in Sievierodonetsk.

“It's hot there, the fighting continues… The only thing we can say for sure is that the Armed Forces of Ukraine offer fierce resistance, because otherwise the town would have come under the control of Russian troops. We can say that very professional Ukrainian units are involved… The Russians follow their plan, they wanted to reach the administrative border of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. So far, they don’t keep to the schedule and they are not able to implement this plan," Malyar said during nationwide telethon, Ukrinform reports with reference to Radio Liberty.

As the official noted, it is incorrect to say what part of the town is controlled by Russian troops since the fighting continues. According to her, the situation is dynamic.

As reported, on June 5, Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Serhiy Haidai said that the Ukrainian troops had been pushing back Russian troops in the occupied areas of Sievierodonetsk over the past two days. According to him, Russian troops had controlled 70 percent of the town, but had been knocked out, and the town was divided in half.
