Zelensky to UK Secretary of State for Defence: Key priority for Ukraine is to quickly obtain heavy weapons

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a meeting with United Kingdom Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace, an Ukrinform correspondent reports, referring to the Office of the President of Ukraine.

“Today the key priority for us is to quickly obtain heavy weapons. This is important in order to defeat the Russian aggressor, to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

The President of Ukraine thanked the Secretary of State for Defence of the United Kingdom for the effective support for Ukraine by the UK government and informed him about the urgent needs of Ukraine’s defense forces in terms of heavy weapons.

According to the Office of the President, the parties discussed security guarantees for Ukraine separately and exchanged their views on the possible ways to unblock Ukrainian ports in order to prevent the global food crisis.

In his turn, Wallace assured Zelensky of continuing defense support for Ukraine and stressed the importance of restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
