Zelensky talks to Michel, von der Leyen
The head of state announced this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.
"I've continued dialogue with the Presidents of the European Commission and the European Council," Zelensky said.
He thanked von der Leyen for the positive conclusion of the European Commission on granting Ukraine candidate status. In this context, Zelensky said that Ukraine would carry on with the course of pro-European reforms.
"Together with European Council President Charles Michel, we've coordinated steps on the eve of the historic European Council session to be held on June 23-24," Zelensky added.
He thanked the EU leaders for their faith in Ukraine's European future.
The European Commission on June 17 recommended that the European Council confirm Ukraine's perspective to become a member of the EU and grant it candidate status.
Representatives of the European Council will hold a substantive discussion on granting Ukraine the status of a candidate country for membership in the European Union at a meeting on June 23-24.
