First Lady Zelenska: Two children die in Ukraine every day due to Russian aggression
The relevant statement was made by First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska in her online address on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Aspen Institute Central Europe, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Many people during these almost four months of Russian aggression have told me that it is difficult for them to even read the news about Ukraine. I understand them very well. It is difficult for any normal person with empathy to find out every day how a missile flew into someone’s house, right into a room and killed a family there. It is difficult to read about the riddled evacuation convoy with the inscription ‘Children’. It is impossible to realize that every day two children die in Ukraine. […] It is difficult to look at photos of damaged cities, holes instead of windows, people in hospitals injured by mines,” Zelenska told.
In her words, values are something that helps Ukraine to hold on. Ukrainian are now defending not only their own home but the values recognized by every normal person, namely life and freedom.
According to Zelenska, love for the loved ones and confidence in friends and allies in Europe and the world are helping Ukraine to keep going.
The First Lady of Ukraine called on Aspen Institute graduates to use their leadership, so that Ukraine would continue to have allies, and so that the truth about Russia’s cruelty and cynicism could be constantly heard in the global arena.
A reminder that a total of 323 children have been killed and over 583 injured in Ukraine since the Russian invasion started.
