Britain allocates £2.5M to Ukraine to investigate Russian war crimes

Ukrinform
The UK government has announced a new £2.5m support package to assist Ukraine with investigating war crimes committed by Russian soldiers.

Ukrinform reports this with reference to Sky News.

It is noted that the package will be used to help the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine investigate crimes including conflict-related sexual violence.

These funds will be provided as part of the UK's support to the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group in partnership with the EU and US.

“The evidence of the horrific crimes committed by Russian forces in Ukraine, and the first-hand accounts I have heard from the survivors, will stay with me forever. But even more powerful is the resolve I have witnessed in the Ukrainian people to respond to these atrocities. I am pleased that UK expertise and funding will help the Office of the Prosecutor-General to expose these crimes and bring perpetrators to account," UK Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons said.

As reported by Ukrinform, the European Union, the United States and Great Britain in May announced the creation of the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group (ACA) to coordinate efforts to investigate Russia’s atrocities in Ukraine.
