Russian troops open fire on Sumy Region with heavy artillery, civilian killed
The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Law enforcement officers launched a pre-trial investigation over the violation of laws and customs of war, combined with intended killing (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
In particular, around 03:00 p.m., July 23, 2022, Russian troops used the means of warfare prohibited by international law and opened fire on Sumy Region’s Ryzhivka with heavy artillery from the territory of Russia.
A 71-year-old farmer was killed in his own yard. The house property and two tractors were damaged.
A reminder that Russian troops open fire on Sumy Region and Chernihiv Region every day. In particular, in the morning of July 23, 2022, the enemy used artillery, mortars and grenade launchers to strike Sumy Region’s communities. Casualties among civilians were reported.
