Explosions were once again reported from Sevastopol, the city hosting a Russian fleet in occupied Crimea.

Meanwhile, the invaders have said the blasts are due to their air defense system response to an attack, the Crimea Reintegration Association wrote on its website, according to Ukrinform.

"The occupiers are pursuing with their ‘PR stunts over explosions’ in Sevastopol. In the last few days, Russian invaders have periodically announced the ‘successful air defense operations’ in the occupied Sevastopol. At the same time… the relevant blasts and fire lead to mass panic, primarily among the Russian ‘colonizers’ and ‘tourists,’ as well as local collaborators," the Association said in a statement.

In addition, it is reported that, under such conditions, the criminal “governor” of occupied Sevastopol, Mykhailo Rozvozhaev, not only "personally inspected" the "exemplary and demonstrative" bomb shelter, ... but also announced via his Telegram channel the creation of a special chatbot where city residents would be able to send messages, photos, and videos of suspicious individuals and objects."

Also, Rozvozhaev "did not rule out the possibility of street patrolling by people's militia."

This time he also hastened to inform the public about the "air defense" work.

As previously reported, a series of explosions occurred in Crimea and Sevastopol over the recent weeks. Russian authorities said the drones were downed and that their air defenses were active in the area, without elaborating or confirming such reports.

On August 16, explosions rocked the Dzhankoy district in occupied Crimea. Explosions were reported at ammunition depots and a transformer substation, while a railway was also damaged. The occupation authorities announced that more than 3,000 residents evacuated the village of Maiske in Dzhankoy district.
