Zaluzhnyi, Milley discuss new aid package, situation at Zaporizhzhia NPP
The relevant statement was made by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
According to Zaluzhnyi, Milley assured the Ukrainian side of the unwavering support of personally United States President Joe Biden, the United States Congress and the American people in general.
Zaluzhnyi expressed gratitude to the United States for another package of aid and consistent support in Ukraine’s struggle for independence.
In addition, Zaluzhnyi briefed Milley on the situation on the battlefield and “noted that the enemy spreads disinformation regarding the situation at Zaporizhzhia NPP, accusing the Ukrainian military of opening fire on the plant”.
A reminder that, on August 25, 2022, due to fires in the ash dumps of Zaporizhzhia Thermal Power Plant (TPP), which is situated close to Zaporizhzhia NPP, the remaining fourth line connecting Zaporizhzhia NPP and Ukraine’s energy system twice was cut off. The other three lines were damaged by Russian projectiles earlier. As a result, two active power units of Zaporizhzhia NPP were disconnected from the power grid. At the moment, Zaporizhzhia NPP has resumed operation and continues to generate electricity for Ukraine’s energy system.
