Russian invaders shelled an evacuation base of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society in Sloviansk, Donetsk region.

The Sloviansk military administration reported this on Telegram, referring to an employee of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, Taras Logginov.

“The Russians fired at the evacuation base of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society in Sloviansk. The enemy attack from 152 mm artillery took place on Monday, August 29. Four shells struck the facility. The building was destroyed, three vehicles were damaged. Fortunately, none of the volunteers were injured," the report says.

According to Logginov, since April 18, the base had been used to accommodate the team engaged in the evacuation of sick and wounded people. Volunteers also delivered food and hygiene kits, tarpaulin and polyethylene for house repairs, blankets, medicines and drinking water for local residents.

“On all maps, this place is marked as a building of the Red Cross. The Russian command knew that there were no military facilities either at the base itself or in the vicinity," the organization's employee clarified.

He also added that volunteers will continue to evacuate civilians using the equipment that remained.
