General Staff names hottest areas of front

"The situation in the east of our country remains the most difficult, but it is controlled. The aggressor also does not give up the intentions to reach the border of Donetsk region," Brigadier General Oleksiy Hromov, deputy chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In Kramatorsk direction, the enemy made offensive attempts but failed. In Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to conduct offensive actions to push back Ukrainian troops, but the defenders of Ukraine are heroically holding the defense, repelling the concentrated attack of enemy troops.

In Avdiivka and Novopavlivka directions, the enemy went on the offensive and launched airstrikes on the Ukrainian positions.

Hromov emphasized that the enemy was systematically destroying the civilian population and infrastructure of Donetsk region.

In addition, the enemy is trying to thwart the complete liberation of the temporarily occupied territories of Kharkiv region and hold the captured areas of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv regions. Since September 30, 168 clashes with the enemy have taken place during the operations of the defense forces.

In Volyn, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the situation is stable and controlled.

In Chernihiv and Sumy directions, the enemy continues to fire artillery at the Ukrainian military positions and civilian infrastructure objects.
