Russia’s attack on Zaporizhzhia: Invaders fire missiles at residential houses
The city is situated close to the contact line, and Russian missiles can reach it in less than a minute.
Russians are deliberately targeting high-rise residential buildings, civil and critical infrastructure.
On October 10, 2022, a Russian missile struck an apartment block in downtown Zaporizhzhia, having destroyed one of its sections. Now, one can see a dreadful chasm there instead of once cozy apartments.
Rescuers recovered six civilian bodies from under the rubble.
On the night of October 9, 2022, the Russian aircraft fired a dozen of S-300 and Kh-22 missiles at Zaporizhzhia’s residential areas. Apartment blocks, detached houses and educational institutions came under enemy fire. Russian missiles directly hit and destroyed one to seven storeys in a 9-storey apartment block. The remaining two floors destroyed during dismantling works.
A 5-storey apartment block located nearby and neighboring houses were also damaged. The blast wave caused serious damage to balconies, windows and facades. The cars parked close to the impact area caught fire. In addition, stores, office premises, kindergartens, schools and other infrastructure objects were damaged in that district.
Russian troops also launched two missile strikes on the detached house suburbs in the Dniprovskyi district. Houses were destroyed at the intersection of streets. Some of them were completely ruined, while others were seriously damaged.
At least fourteen civilians were killed and 60 injured, including six children.
In the morning of October 6, 2022, the Russian military opened fire on downtown Zaporizhzhia, having destroyed over 50 buildings. Several detached houses and apartment blocks came under enemy fire. One to five storeys were ruined in two 5-storey apartment blocks.
Cars were damaged. Many of the neighboring houses were left with the windows blown out, facades damaged, balconies and roofs destroyed.
Rescuers, municipal workers and volunteers had been dismantling the rubble of two apartment blocks for more than three days. Twenty civilian bodies were recovered from under the rubble.
One of Russian missiles struck the detached house suburbs, having destroyed two houses completely. Three civilians were reported killed.
Generally, at least 49 people had been killed in a series of Russian missile strikes on Zaporizhzhia since October 3, 2022.
A reminder that, in the morning of October 10, 2022, Russia launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine’s territory. Infrastructure objects were struck in eight regions and the city of Kyiv. Russian invaders fired 84 cruise missiles and used 24 unmanned aerial vehicles. According to the available data, a total of 19 people were killed and 108 injured.
