New U.S. defense aid package for Ukraine includes munitions, military vehicles
The U.S. Department of Defense said this in a statement posted on its website, Ukrinform reports.
"The United States has delivered unprecedented security assistance to Ukraine and will continue to work with allies and partners to ensure Ukraine has the support it needs," the agency said.
It specified that the United States would supply Ukraine with additional ammunition for HIMARS, 23,000 155mm artillery rounds, 500 precision-guided 155mm artillery rounds, and 5,000 155mm rounds of Remote Anti-Armor Mine (RAAM) Systems.
In addition, the package includes 5,000 anti-tank weapons, high-speed anti-radiation missiles (HARMs), more than 200 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs), small arms and more than 2,000,000 rounds of small arms ammunition, and medical supplies.
The Defense Department said that in order to meet Ukraine's evolving battlefield requirements, the United States will continue to work with its Allies and partners to provide Ukraine with key capabilities.
U.S. President Joe Biden earlier authorized $725 million in additional security assistance for Ukraine.
