Ukraine’s Intelligence Chief Budanov expects war to end by summer
The relevant statement was made by Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate at the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Kyrylo Budanov in an interview with Obozrevatel, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“In late spring, all of this should end. By summer, everything should be over,” Budanov said, noting that “in the first place” Ukraine should reach the borders of 1991.
According to Budanov, by the end of 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will make significant progress.
“These will be significant victories, you will soon see it,” Budanov added.
When asked whether it could be the liberation of Kherson, Budanov replied: “I hope it could be Kherson.”
In his words, as the war ends, a "very serious political process" related to changes in the Russian Federation will begin, and certain regions will separate from Russia.
“Moscow will pay reparations to us, all of this is waiting for them. This will cause a shift in Russia’s certain economic focus to our territory… Thus, there are many steps,” Budanov told.
Budanov believes the Caucasian regions will be the first to separate from Russia, and then the Russian Federation will fall apart.
“There are many territorial problems. The ‘Russian Federation’ is just a ‘federative’ name. This is an extremely large territory, which has existed for quite a long time, nobody knows how, within these borders. It was based solely on faith in the regime’s power. As soon as the regime collapses, all of this will fall apart,” Budanov stressed.
A reminder that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine recognized the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria as temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation and condemned the genocide of the Chechen people.
