Zelensky: Russia's decision on use of nuclear weapons does not depend on situation on battlefield
"If Russia decides to use nuclear weapons, it will use them. If it decides not to use them, and it depends on the pressure put by the Western world, it will not use them. No matter what happens on the battlefield. Sometimes we think that [when] we are successful on the battlefield, Russia can use nuclear weapons. So what should we do then, not fight for our land? The logic is that we should surrender then, because they, God forbid, will use nuclear weapons. We are not ready to live with such logic, to be honest," Zelensky told Corriere della Sera in an interview.
As reported, the U.S. Department of Defense stated that it had no information that would directly indicate the Kremlin leader's readiness to use nuclear weapons or the so-called "dirty bomb" on the territory of Ukraine.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Russian President Putin was personally warned of the consequences Russia would face for using a nuclear weapon in its war in Ukraine.
