'General Winter' will not help Putin win in Ukraine - Borrell
EU High Representative Josep Borrell said this on Thursday in Münster, Germany, where a meeting of foreign ministers of the G7 countries is taking place, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
Borrell recalled that since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the European Union has already allocated EUR 22 billion in support to Ukraine.
"I am only counting EUR 3 billion from the European Peace Facility (EPF) and EUR 19 billion are coming from European Union and Member States to support financially, economically Ukraine: providing humanitarian support, providing materials for Ukrainians to be able to support the winter. The winter is coming, and Putin is waiting for the 'General Winter' to come and support the Russian army. Now, more than ever, we have to support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. They are fighting, defending their country and we have the moral duty to support them," Borrell said.
The German city of Münster today hosts a meeting of G7 foreign ministers. A major topic of the meeting is the situation in Europe and the world amid Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
