Russia changing war tactics under Surovikin’s leadership - commander of Ukraine’s ground forces
The Commander of the Ukrainian Army’s Ground Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi spoke of this in an interview with The Economist, Ukrinform reports.
[T]he Russians are changing tactics under their new commander, Sergei Surovikin," he said.
According to him, they are attacking using smaller, well-coordinated detachments on foot: it is costly in terms of soldiers' lives, but that has “never been Russia's highest priority.”
Syrskyi also noted that a modern commander needs to stay connected. Every day he gets 300 messages from soldiers. He also emphasized the importance of morale.
"You have to feel the spirit of the army," he says.
As reported, full-scale Russian military aggression has been ongoing in Ukraine since February 24. The defense forces are fiercely repelling Russian invaders.
