Russian propagandists try to persuade that Zelensky’s visit to Bakhmut was untrue

Russian propagandists are making attempts to persuade that a visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the Donetsk region’s city of Bakhmut was the so-called 'show' filmed in a pavilion.

The relevant statement was made by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) at the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to the CCD, a number of Russian mass media outlets reported that President Zelensky’s visit to Bakhmut allegedly was “an information campaign of the Ukrainian propaganda”.  In their words, most likely, today’s trip was either filmed in a pavilion or was a costume reconstruction in the conditions identical to natural. Such statements have nothing to do with reality, the CCD stressed.

Additionally, Russia’s collaborator from the Zaporizhzhia region, Volodymyr Rohov, again spread disinformation, claiming that Ukrainian security services are putting psychological pressure on those mobilized in the Zaporizhzhia region. In his words, there were “over 20 cases, when the families of those mobilized who are now deployed in the Zaporizhzhia region received calls from Ukraine and were told that they had allegedly died or had been taken captive”.

Another manipulation was used by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. In his words, anti-Russian sentiment has reached its peak, as UNESCO rejected a proposal to proclaim June 6 as World Russian Language Day.

A reminder that, on December 20, 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky paid a visit to the Donetsk region’s Bakhmut. He met with Bakhmut defenders, visited the forward positions of one of brigades, heard a report on the operational situation, and presented state awards to the Ukrainian military.
