OSCE Secretary General: There can be no justification for Russian attacks against Ukraine’s infrastructure
The relevant statement was made by OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid in an interview with Ukrinform.
“I am appalled by the attacks against civilian infrastructure and cities across Ukraine. There can be absolutely no justification for such acts, which continue to put millions of Ukrainians at risk,” Schmid noted.
In her words, these attacks, which impair basic services, such as water, electricity and heating, place a tremendous burden on the government and population alike, especially as winter is setting in.
“We are committed to supporting Ukraine and its people and are in constant contact with our partners on the ground to examine how we can ramp up and co-ordinate our efforts in this vein. I emphasized this point again last week at the International Conference on Ukraine’s Civilian Resilience that raised over 1 billion Euros to further support Ukraine and its people. This support is vital and I am so proud that the OSCE can play its part,” Schmid stressed.
A reminder that, since October 10, 2022, Russia has launched over 1,000 missiles and drones at Ukraine’s energy facilities. Ukraine’s energy system has already survived nine waves of massive terrorist attacks. Rolling and emergency blackouts are now in effect across the country.
