Ukrainian forces launch 18 strikes on enemy, down Russian Su-25, helicopter
According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a post on Facebook.
"Throughout the day, Ukrainian aircraft launched 15 strikes on enemy concentration areas, as well as three strikes on the positions of its anti-aircraft missile systems. At the same time, our defenders shot down an enemy Su-25 aircraft and a Mi-8 helicopter," the report reads.
The units of rocket forces and artillery of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, for their part, hit an area of concentration of manpower and military equipment of the invaders.
It was established that in order to maintain the offensive potential and replenish losses, the enemy continues to carry out mobilization measures.
On January 5, Russian troops launched eight airstrikes and more than ten attacks using multiple launch rocket systems.
The threat remains of the aggressors carrying out air and missile strikes on critical infrastructure in Ukraine.
According to the report, Russian troops are focusing their main efforts on attempts to completely capture the Donetsk region within its administrative border. Russian forces are conducting offensive operations in the Bakhmut and Lyman areas.
Meanwhile, Russia's military and political leadership, according to the General Staff, is taking measures to prevent men eligible for military service from leaving abroad en masse before the next wave of mobilization, which is expected in January. A complete ban on crossing the state border for men eligible for military service is not ruled out.
Forced passportization of the population continues in the temporarily occupied and captured territories of the Luhansk region. Local banking institutions require Russian passports to issue payment cards.
