Reznikov assesses front line threats: 800 km are particularly tense
"To date, our front line is 2,500 km. It is a line of threats, starting along the entire border with Belarus – it is a threat, it exists, because it is, unfortunately, an unfriendly state, then there is Russia and the temporarily occupied territories. Out of 2,500 km, 1,200 km are tensest, and 800 km are particularly tense," Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov said in an interview as part of the nationwide news telethon.
Reznikov emphasized that the east is currently the “hot spot”, and the "hottest" situation is not only in Bakhmut. However, according to him, the Russians dream of Bakhmut to have at least a small symbolic victory somewhere precisely from a political point of view as it’s an issue of domestic agenda to show that they reached the borders somewhere.
"But Bakhmut is a fortress, it's a symbol, we're serious about it, it's a guard post," the minister emphasized.
Reznikov stressed that the Ukrainian forces will hold and regain every meter of Ukrainian land.
As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the positions of Ukrainian troops in Bakhmut on December 20, 2020.
