Forty-three combat clashes occurred in Bakhmut direction over past day

"Over the past day, 281 strikes on positions and infrastructure along the entire length of this front, 43 combat clashes occurred in Bakhmut direction of the front. The enemy lost 107 soldiers killed and 123 wounded," Serhii Cherevaty, Spokesman for the Eastern Group of Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said during the nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He emphasized that Bakhmut is now the "hottest" section of the front seeing the most aggressive actions of the Russian army. Currently, the enemy has concentrated the most combat-capable units here, including the members of Wagner PMC.

According to the spokesman, the enemy attacks are gradually shifting towards Soledar, which is practically destroyed, and very fierce fighting continues there.

As for the situation in Luhansk region, according to Cherevaty, the intensity of hostilities there is somewhat lower than near Bakhmut, while active hostilities are also taking place near Kreminna.

"The enemy regroups there, the units, particularly equipped with mobilized soldiers, rotate... The enemy even tries to counterattack our positions. Today this happened near the settlements of Stelmakhivka and Chervonopopivka. However, the enemy was hit and pushed back," Cherevaty noted.

As reported, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated about 111,760 Russian invaders from 24 February 2022 to 9 January 2023.
