The F-16 fighter could be the best option for the Ukrainian Air Force and become the only type of multi-purpose aircraft it would operate.

This was stated by the spokesman for the Air Force Command, Colonel Yuriy Ihnat, who spoke at a briefing at the Ukraine-Ukrinform Media Center.

"This type of multi-purpose aircraft, most common in the world, and the F-16 is one of these aircraft, could be the best option for the Air Force to become its single main aircraft, a single type of multi-purpose warplane," Ihnat said.

According to the spokesman, the F-16 fighter can strike ground targets with various types of weapons, as well as become part of air defense capabilities, protecting the sky from air attacks.

He noted that Ukraine now has four types of aircraft in service: two types of fighters (Su-27s and MiG-29s), a Su-25 attack aircraft, and a Su-24 bomber. "This aircraft (F-16 - ed.)) could combine all these functions, that is why more attention is being paid to it in terms of providing it to Ukraine," Ihnat added.

As reported, Deputy White House National Security Adviser John Feiner said that the U.S. is ready to tentatively discuss with Kyiv and its allies the idea of supplying fighter jets to Ukraine.
