Russia ignores own losses to achieve progress ahead of Feb 24 anniversary - EU at OSCE
That’s according to a statement by the European Union’s permanent delegation to the OSCE, voiced at the Forum on Security Cooperation in Vienna on Wednesday.
"As the one-year anniversary of Moscow's fatal decision to invade its sovereign and peaceful neighbor is approaching, the Russian forces are desperately trying to achieve progress on the battlefield. Russian generals continue to send freshly mobilized soldiers into senseless attacks, with no respect for human lives. We have seen these military tactics around Vuhledar in recent days," the statement said.
Against this background, the delegation of the European Union pointed out the false statement by the head of the Russian delegation to the OSCE two weeks ago, who "boasted in this room that the Ukrainian defenses in the same Vuhledar had been broken."
"Another outlandish claim, similar to many we heard in the past, in particular, a year ago, in February 2022," the EU mission said.
The statement also reiterated the call to Russia to "stop its war of aggression and to immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw all its troops and military equipment from the entire territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders." In addition, the EU addressed its call to the Lukashenko regime to "to stop their support of and refrain from any further involvement in or facilitation of Russia's illegal war of aggression."
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukraine’s defense intelligence spokesman Andriy Yusov stated that the losses of the Russian invasion forces are now the largest since the outset of the full-scale invasion on February 24.
Despite this, the Russian military command does not abandon its desperate attempts to occupy the Ukrainian Donbas before the end of March.
