EU allocates another EUR 2B for military aid to Ukraine
That’s according to a tweet by the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU.
“Today, EU Ambassadors approved an additional €2 billion to the European Peace Facility. This decision sends a clear signal of the EU’s enduring commitment to military support for Ukraine and other partners,” the tweet reads.
It was earlier reported that the EU defense ministers agreed to the proposal to provide Ukraine with immediate military aid, in particular, supply 155 mm and 152 mm artillery shells within weeks, while EUR 1 billion will be allocated from the European Peace Fund as compensation.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, referring to Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov, Ukraine hopes to receive as soon as possible air defense equipment and additional ammunition from its EU partners, in particular, a million 155 mm caliber shells, which will allow the nation to stop the Russian onslaught and plan a counteroffensive to liberate the occupied territories.
