In Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian border guards repel assault and capture Wagner mercenary

The State Border Guard Service wrote on Telegram that a Russian attack aircraft tried to strike the border guards’ observation post. However, the border guards returned fire and forced the invaders to retreat.

According to the State Border Guard Service, one occupier was killed, and another one was taken prisoner. He turned out to be a mercenary from Russia’s Wagner Group. According to the prisoner, he went to fight for a monetary reward.

As reported by Ukrinform, Commander of Ukraine’s Ground Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the situation around Bakhmut remains difficult. The assault units of Russia's Wagner Group are advancing from several directions, trying to break through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
