Danilov: Defense of Bakhmut remains key issue at Supreme CinC Staff meetings
Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, said this on national telethon on Tuesday, March 14, Ukrinform reports.
"Another meeting of the Staff, chaired by the president, was held today. The Bakhmut issue is a key one. It has been on the agenda for the last three to four months, and it stands first at the Staff meetings. This is the first issue we start discussing at the Staff meetings. Today was no exception, today the situation in this sector was considered at the meeting of the Staff. We heard reports by General Zaluzhnyi and General Syrskyi who stays there," Danilov said.
On March 14, President Volodymyr Zelensky held another meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief to discuss the situation on the front lines, including in Bakhmut. After considering the course of the defensive operation in the Bakhmut sector, all members of the Staff expressed their common position regarding the further holding and defense of the city.
According to Zaluzhnyi, the defensive operation in the Bakhmut direction is of paramount strategic importance for deterring the enemy.
