General Staff: Explosions in Dzhankoi aim to complicate enemy's logistics in Melitopol and Kherson
Colonel Serhiy Baranov, acting head of the Main Department of Combat Strike Systems of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, said this at the briefing "Transformation of Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine", an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
When asked whether the explosions in Dzhankoi will affect the enemy's ammunition supplies to the temporarily occupied Crimea and other territories of Ukraine, Baranov said: "As for Dzhankoi, [the supplies to] the Black Sea Fleet [will] not [be affected] because there are other railway junctions, in particular, in Simferopol, located closer to the Black Sea Fleet bases. And as for our territory, yes [the supplies will be affected]. Dzhankoi is one of the junctions of the logistics route, which, for example, runs to Melitopol or Kherson. Therefore, one of the reasons for inflicting such damage was precisely either a complete termination or an obstacle to the logistics of the enemy groups stationed in our territory," Baranov said.
As reported, explosions were heard in the town of Dzhankoi in the north of the temporarily occupied Crimea the day before. According to the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, as a result of the explosion, the Russian Kalibr cruise missiles, which were transported by rail, were destroyed in Dzhankoi.
