EU countries have already agreed to jointly buy Kyiv a large volume of ammunition but whether the contracts will stay within the bloc remains a question.

That’s according to Politico, Ukrinform reports.

“Two weeks after the EU announced a historic agreement to give Ukraine piles of ammunition, the bloc is still sorting out the legal specifics of how to actually implement it,” the report reads.

The bone of contention remains whether these arms contracts will go exclusively to EU companies, or also be open to outside manufacturers. According to the outlet’s sources, France is pushing for the money to stay within EU borders, with Greece and Cyprus backing Paris in trying to avoid contracts going to Türkiye.

At the same time, on Wednesday, ambassadors completed a deal on donating large swaths of ammunition to Kyiv from own stocks, sources say.

The legal text of the agreement is expected to be officially published next week.

It should be recalled that on March 20, the Council of the European Union approved a plan to supply Ukraine with one million artillery rounds over 12 months.
