NATO to hold largest-ever aviation exercise
This was announced on the website of the U.S. National Guard, Ukrinform reports.
The drill will take place, in particular, on NATO’s eastern frontiers, along the border with Russia. Air Defender 2023 will aim to test the ability to rapidly deploy and use allied aviation.
The German-led multinational exercise will focus on operational and tactical-level field training, primarily in Germany, with forward operating locations in the Czech Republic, Estonia and Latvia, from June 12-23.
In addition to Germany and the USA, 22 allies will take part. There will be 23 types among the approximately 220 participating aircraft, with nearly 100 coming from more than 40 ANG units — marking Air Defender ’23 as the largest Air Force deployment exercise since NATO’s founding in 1949.
As reported, the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence (CCDCOE), which operates in Tallinn, will host the world's largest cyber defense exercise, Locked Shields 2023, on April 18-21, involving nearly 3,000 participants.
